Mission & History
Our MissionThe mission of the Arts Coalition of the Alleghenies is to collaboratively schedule, market and advocate for the arts community in the Allegheny region. We work together with our member artists and arts organizations to encourage complementary programming and cooperative promotion efforts. For artists – that means maximum visibility. For art lovers – that means the ability to find out about all of the area’s classes, exhibits, and performances in one location.
Who We AreWe are a collective group of artists and arts organizations in Bedford, Cambria, Indiana, and Somerset counties, all looking to jointly promote and protect the arts community. Our membership is always open, and we encourage you to join or support our efforts. We thank organizations like the Pennsylvania Rural Arts Alliance and the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies for their strategic support of our initiatives.
Since our inception, the Arts Coalition of the Alleghenies has completed numerous initiatives to enrich our community. We started by launching our website, ArtsCoa.org, as a place to promote our members' events to the general public. Our calendar is regularly updated with our members' upcoming events, concerts, workshops, and more. It has become a one-stop-shop for arts-related events in the Alleghenies and reaches art advocates in the area on a regular basis. We also have a weekly enewsletter for the general public. Register today to start receiving the latest on what's happening in the art world in our area each week. Our members are active in the arts community and beyond. In Winter 2015, our group collaborated on a performance of "Sweeney Todd" as a very successful fundraiser. In addition, we have held two canned food drives for local food pantries and an initiative to feed the area's children by collaborating with The Backpack Project. Truly, our impact has been felt by many. There are many ways to become involved in the Arts Coalition of the Alleghenies. We accept new members year round, and we also accept donations from art supporters in the community. To learn more about supporting the Arts Coalition, please Contact Us.
