Johnstown Symphony Orchestra
The mission of the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra (JSO) is to enable a broad audience in our geographic region to experience live performances of high quality classical orchestral music. The Orchestra will feature both regional musicians and internationally known artists providing enriching musical experiences for both players and listeners. The Orchestra realizes that its mission necessitates increasing the accessibility of classical music performances to an audience consisting of diverse backgrounds in an unintimidating atmosphere which is both musically and socially enjoyable. Through development of the Orchestra, appropriate satellite performance groups and the training of young musicians, the JSO will enhance the quality of living and prestige of our area and gain regional prominence in the performing arts. In order to ensure the JSO’s long-term ability to fulfill this mission, the organization will diligently seek to general philanthropy benefiting the performing arts, train and develop volunteer leadership and maintain sound financial planning.
Youth and Education Programs: We are deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of musicians and music lovers through our impactful youth initiatives. From the JSO Youth Orchestra and Inclined to Sing Children’s Chorus to our free Young People’s Education Concerts and in-school “JSO on the Go!” ensembles, we provide meaningful music education and performance opportunities that inspire, educate, and engage young minds across the region.
